Asper Kitty and Mau do not get along. I think Mau is fine with Asper, but she detest him. She is strictly for a one cat family. So this evening I was upstairs playing in Logan's room when I spotted a little bunch of cat hair. I thought "wow those cats fight a lot, and Asper is obviously the losing cat." Then, "Logan we've got to show this to dad." Downstairs we go. After I finish show and tell with Matt, Logan goes "no, I cut my Asper kitty."
Me: oh really?
Logan: yeah, with blue scissors
Me: Where did you get blue scissors?
Logan: In my baby ma room. (It is currently my sewing room, since Maddie does not have much use for it)
Wow, thankfully i did/have not seen any evidence of bloodshed. Poor cat. At least Logan fessed up, and did not let mau take the blame.

Yikes!
Yesterday, Logan brought me a bug. He had it gently between his fingers. He wanted to put it in his bunny bubble container. Very narrow opening, so I suggested we put it in a container that was wider at the top, plus clear so we could see the bug. I opened the tupperware and then held it out for Logan to drop the bug in. He does.....IT'S A BEE!!!!!! I quickly put the lid on and tried to explain to Logan that if the bee had stung him, we would have to go to the doctor, Mama as well. I sure hope he doesn't get that allergy from me. Anyway, I let the bee suffocate, not very nice of me, but if the bee was angry about the whole capture thing, I did not want us to be part of his revenge.

Pets and the kids that love them?
Recently we have had a lot of events surrounding the animals. Last Friday, we were having quiet time with lots of story reading and such, trying to get the kids to take a nap. At least I fell asleep. I woke up to find that Logan had covered Ally in Vaseline. We promptly went outside and gave Ally a bath, but I have found that I should have followed the directions: Wash, rinse, REPEAT. Ally still has a grease spot on her back.
Today I have several excuses for not changing diapers. First, while I was showering Ally ate my diaper bag. I figured out it was because I had half of an Odwalla bar in the side pocket. Since Ally haws not yet developed her opposable thumbs rather than use the zipper, she just chewed a hole in the bag. Then during quiet time today Ally ate my baby wipes. Last weekend, Logan pulled all the wipes out of the container, and instead of throwing them away, I just put them in a zip-loc bag. I guess, Ally figured that usually when she chews up a baggie she gets Trix or Goldfish, so she assumed that is what she would get this time, instead she got baby wipes.
We were reading "The Seven Little Postmen" today and there is a picture of many kittens. So I asked Logan how many cats does he have. He said "two." I then asked him what his cats’ names are. Logan says "Asper kitty," then he thinks for a second and says "Ow, ow Mau." He thought of that all on his own. Mau likes to attack us as we walk across the room. He also loves to hide underneath the bed skirt and bite our toes.

My son is a genius!
Matt had a coworker "John" drive him home the other night. Matt showed John around the house and when they came to the globe on the desk, Matt tried for a parlor trick with Logan. A few months ago when Auntie Kishy was in Hawaii, I showed Logan on the globe and he apparently remembered very well. So here is the conversation approximately:
Matt: Where's Hawaii Logan?
Logon: points to some random place.
Matt to John: Guess he forgot.
Me: I showed Logan where Auntie Kishy is and two weeks later he showed me.
Matt to Logan: Where's Auntie Kishy?
Logan spins globe around a couple times and then points to Hawaii!
I guess you just need to know how to ask the right question.

Cats & Fish
Logan is learning from his father. Yesterday, we were out on the deck, Logan picked up Asper and threw her in his pool. Poor cat. She jumped out and then Logan tried to catch her again. She was sucessful in evading him.
Today, I was downstairs downloading Taylor Swift's cd, Logan went upstairs. He seemed to be entertaining himself, so I continued playing on the computer. When I finally went up there to see what he was up to, he had caught his goldfish in his hands and carried him ~5 feet to put the fish in Matt's fish tank! I was very impressed!

Fishing!!!

So we went driving out to Mount Hood last Saturday so Grammie could see the mountain, but it was so foggy we could not even see it at the timberline. On the way home Matt saw a sign that said "Rainbow Trout Farm." We stopped by and it was awesome! There were ten different pond, seven we could fish from. Rods, reels, worms and bucket were all provided. So we cast Logan's little fishing rod out there and in about a sweconds we had a hit. He got loose while we reeled him in, so we put a new worm on and cast again, the second fish also got loose. But three times a charm and on our third cast we caught an eleven inch fish!! As soon as we cast out the line Logan and I just started reeling in. We caught four fish in less that five minutes! Three were eleven inches and one was 17!!! While we were trying to get a picture of our 17 inch fish it flopped out of Matt's hand and hit Logan in the face. He did not like that much. Matt and I then got to clean our fish. I haven't doned that in years. Matt pretty much only does catch and release, so he hasn't done it in a while either. Logan is very empathetic and did not like us cutting his fish. Poor guy. I think he had fun though.

Why am I awake before 7 on Saturday morning?
Oh, yeah...Logan. I see to have taught Logan that we sleep when it is dark outside. This morning at about 6:45 he woke up in my bed, he says "hot milk." (Luke warm milk, with a spoonful of Ovaltine.) I say "let's sleep longer." Logan points outside and say "no nite-nite mama." "Big light on." (big light is the sun.) On days like this I just need to remember that when he is 15 I will not be able to get him out of bed, right?

Madison rolled over!!!
I forgot to post this here, but Madison rolled over wednesday 9/9/09. You go girl!!!
Big Light
Logan got to sleep downstairs last night. When he woke up this morning all the blinds were up and he pointed out the window and said "Mama, big light turn on." (That means the sun came up.)

Broc-broc
We planted broccoli in the garden this year (I had a coupon for free plants). Logan doesn't much care for veggies, but he loves to hand-pick the broccoli and feed it to me. Great way to get my veggies!

Madison is Four Months Old.
Today Madison is four months old. We went to her well baby appointment this morning. Her current stats are:
Weight: 12 pounds 0 ounces
Length: 24¼ inches
Head circumference: 40 cm
She got many vaccines, but seems to have recovered swiftly. Logan got a nasal flu vaccine while we where there. If you ever have the option nasal is the way to go. He was happy in about 30 seconds.
Madison is cooing a lot and trying hard to roll over. I think it will be soon. She has outgrown the newborn clothes. She can hold her head up really high when she is on her tummy.
Logan loves his baby sister most of the time. He always wants to carry her and have her sit on his lap. Also, whenever he is stalling at bedtime he says “kiss baby Ma (Madison).” That and having to go potty are the two requests I always allow him to stall with. Don’t get the wrong idea though; there are plenty of times when he tries to push Madison off my lap so he can sit there.
Logan and I are going to start officially potty training really soon. I figured I can’t start before I get back from Spokane this weekend otherwise Matt will have to take over. Logan is still in love with trains. Last week we rode the MAX to the zoo and he loved that. We just got him a train table this week and he loves it. Sometimes he treats trains like babies and wraps them up in blankets (baby washcloths) and carries them around. He still calls his tummy his baby because Baby Ma was in mine. He also loves the Wow-wows (fire trucks). He came up with that name himself because that is the sounds a fire truck makes, right?
We, meaning I, are loving our new house. I don’t think it would be possible for me to keep my sanity and be a parent of two without the garage and the fenced backyard. I think Matt secretly likes being a homeowner. There is now plenty of room for his toys, and he can own some real tools now. Matt is gearing up for his big hunting trip to Wyoming this year. Hopefully it goes as well as last time and Dan and him get their antelopes within the first hour.

"No bless you my dada."
Logan always says “Bless you my mama” when I sneeze. We were eating dinner the other day, I sneezed,
Logan said “Bea bou (his version), my mama.”
Matt - “did he just call you a baby?
Me - “No he said Bless you my mama”
Logan - “Bless my mama, no bless my dada.”
